BAE Systems Inks Deal with Tatra Defense Vehicle to Produce European CATV BvS10 Vehicles
BAE Systems Awards €42 Million Contract to Tatra Defense Vehicle for CATV-3N Program
BAE Systems has secured a contract worth up to €42 million (1 billion Czech Koruna) with Tatra Defense Vehicle, a leading company based in the Czech Republic. This contract, part of the new Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV-3N) program, involves the welding, painting, and installation of hull insulation for BvS10 vehicles. This collaboration strengthens the longstanding relationship between the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) of companies and BAE Systems Hägglunds, the manufacturer of the CV90 and BvS10 vehicles, further solidifying the bond between the Swedish and Czech defense industries.
The contract encompasses the production of 250 new BvS10 all-terrain vehicles, with an option for an additional 274 units. These vehicles will be configured for various missions, ranging from armored transporters to ambulances, with both front and rear carriages. Prototype production is set to begin this summer, with serial production expected to start by the end of 2025.
“This contract represents a significant step for Tatra Defense Vehicle and the entire CSG consortium. We are proud to showcase our expertise on an international scale and to further develop our strategic relationship with BAE Systems Hägglunds,” said Tomáš Mohapl, CEO of Tatra Defense Vehicle.
Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, President of BAE Systems Hägglunds, emphasized the mutual benefits of the partnership, stating, “Collaborating with Tatra Defense Vehicle allows us to leverage its advanced production technologies while integrating the Czech defense industry into our global supply chain. This contract is evidence of our mutual trust in Tatra Defense Vehicle, and we expect it to bring many more opportunities for both parties.”
The contract highlights the deepening cooperation between BAE Systems Hägglunds and Czech defense companies. Alongside the ongoing involvement of Czech industry in the CV90 MkIV vehicle supply contract for the Czech army, BAE Systems envisions additional business opportunities emerging. The BvS10 vehicles in the CATV-3N program are highly mobile, all-terrain, modern armored vehicles designed for extreme climatic conditions and challenging terrains. These vehicles are intended for the military forces of Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom, supporting a wide range of missions from homeland defense to international crisis operations.
